Steps to take when get needle injury

A
  • allow wound to bleed freely (no pressure)
  • clean with water + soap
  • report injury to supervisor
  • go to ED right away: might get preventive therapy for HIV (based on risk)
    ——- best to start therapy within 2 hours of injury + finish it within 72 hrs

** if not hep B immmune: may get hep B Ig for ST protection
