What happens when states have contradicting rules
They must file a difference to the ICAO and ensure it is added to the AIP
Pilots responsibility to know the rules of the territory they enter
Applicability
Rules from registered aircraft home must be followed
Only broke if avoiding:
Immediate danger
Complying with territory of state flying over
If broken for safety reason 10 days to submit hand written letter to relevant authority
Low Flying - Power Failure
Must have space for emergency landing
Low Flying - 1000ft Rule
1000ft above highest obstacle within 600m
Except for helicopters
Low Flying - Land Clear Rule
Flying over congested area must have room to land
Low Flying - Assemblies
1000ft above or a height enabling clear landing from the assembly
Unless written permission given
or at aerodrome or other landing site notified by the CAA
Low flying - 500ft Rule
No closer than 500ft to any person, vessel vehicle or structure
unless landing/taking off
Aerobatics
No aerobatics over congested area or controlled air space without permission
Notification of Arrival and Departure
Must let aerodrome boss know when they land/leave
If arrival time given then:
Any change of intended destination
Any delay over 30 mins
Simulated Instrument Flight
Don’t fly under instrument conditions unless:
Aircraft has dual controls
A safety pilot
if safety pilots has poor vision a competent observer should vibe
