Airborne Collision Avoidance Flashcards
General…
Pilot in command must take all measures not to collide
Must Not:
Fly close to other aircraft
Fly in formation unless commanders have agreed
An aircraft should not give way by passing over/under or ahead unless passing well clear
An aircraft with right of way = maintain course and speed
Flying machine towing glider is treated as one single aircraft
Converging
the order of importance in the sky
Balloon
Glider
Airship
Flying Machine
Converging
Approaching an op
Approaching at similar altitude One on the right has priority
(Nav lights)
Approaching head on…
Alter course to the right
Overtaking (in the air)
70 degrees either side of the tail - over take on the right - plane at front has right of way
Flight in the vicinity of an Aerodrome
All turns should be left unless ground signals or ATC direct otherwise
Order Of Landing
Aircraft on final approach to land has right of way
No overtake or cut in front of another aircraft on final approach
If pilot is aware of emergency landing give them right of way
Aircraft at lower altitude shall have the right - of - way
Landing and Take-Off
Take off and Landing indicated by sideways T on ground
Take off up the stem land from the top of the the T do the base
If no signal = land into the wind
Don’t land on runway if there are other aircraft on the runway unless ATC state otherwise
Landing and Take-Off
Not confined to a runway
When landing leave left clear of any landed/landing aircraft t
Turn left if doing so is possible
Move clear from landing area as quickly as possible after landing unless ATC say otherwise
Right Hand Rule
Following landmarks - stay on the left
Can see features from pilot side
Oncoming traffic will be on the other side of feature
Does not apply to aircraft flying in controlled airspace
