Aerodrome defined as area of land or water for taking off…
The manoeuvring area - part of the aerodrome for take-off/landing and movement of aircraft on surface
An apron - used for the purpose of parking, fuelling, maintenance, and the loading/unloading of aircraft
Right of way on Ground (Rule 42)
- Aircraft taking off/landing
- Vehicles involved in towing
- Aircraft
- Vehicles
Collision Avoidance on the Ground 1
Converging
If two aircraft are approaching head on - alter course to right

Right of way
The one who see the other craft on their right gives way

Overtaking
Being overtaken = have right of way
overtaker stays well out their way (to the left)
Aerodrome Traffic Zone (ATZ)/Flight Information Zone (FIZ)
No fly/take-off/land:
Without permission from ATCU of the ATZ
Have got info from FISO in FIZ
Whilst flying must:
Continuous listening watch
Watch for visual signals
Report position and height
Operation in Aerodrome Traffic Zone
Don’t enter ATZ unless:
Permission from ATZ/info from Air Ground (A/G) station
Must maintain appropriate radio frequency
Must report position and level on entering/leaving
Water contamination on Runways
Damp - Change in colour due to moisture
Wet - Soaked but no standing water
Water patches - Significant standing water visible
Flooded - Extensive standing water visible
(assessed/reported to pilots in 3rds e.g wet,wet,damp)
