Aircraft Lights Flashcards
What lights must be displayed
Port (left) Red light 110 degrees
Starboard (right) Green light 110 degrees
Rear white light either side of tail wing 70 degrees each
140 total
360 degrees coverage
(Red light out to right = risk)
(Green light out to left = risk)
Glider, Airship, Balloon
Glider - nav lights or one steady red light
Airship - white light dead ahead of behind 110 degrees
Balloon - Steady red in all directions
Anti-Collision Light
A flashing red or white light
(for rotorcraft only red anti-collision light may be used)
Displayed day/night when:
Airborne/Stationary on an airport with engine running
Flashing lights may be turned off if affecting crew or cause ‘dazzle’
Failure of Nav or Anti-Collision Lights
At night - Depart from airfields
If in flight, you must land as soon as it is safe unless authorised by Air Traffic Control to continue in the flight
At day - Continue to fly. fix as soon as possible
