Yellow aspect- caution. Proceed. Bd prepared to stop at the next signal
Red aspect- danger. Stop
Describe a 4 aspect signalling- normal sequence
Green aspect- proceed next signal displaying proceed aspect
Double yellow aspect- preliminary caution. Proceed but bd prepared to find the next signal displaying a single yellow aspect.
Single Yellow aspect- caution. Proceed. Be prepared to stop at the next signal
Red aspect- danger. Stop
Junction indicator
What is the purpose of a junction indicator?
When lit show that a train is being signalled to a route to the left or right of the straight route
Route indicator
What is the purpose of a route indicator?
Shows letter or number to show the route onto which the movement is being signalled
Flashing yellow aspects
On a 3 aspect signalling describe sequence with a flashing yellow
Green
Single flashing yellow
Steady single yellow with a junction indicator
Red
Flashing yellow aspects
On a 4 aspect signalling describe sequence with a flashing yellow
Green Double flashing yellow Single flashing yellow Single steady yellow with junction indicator Red
Position light signals are normally located at ground level and will be unlit if running on main aspect. If 2 red lights are shown what does it indicate?
Stop
Position light signals are normally located at ground level and will be unlit if running on main aspect.
If 2 yellow lights are lit horizontally, what does it indicate?
Can proceed if movement is being made towards a shunt neck or siding.
Is a stop signal for movements being made onto running lines
Work site marker boards
If it has 2 red flashing lights what does this indicate?
Who will give you authority to pass WSMB?
Entrance to work site
The authority of the Engineering supervisor is needed to pass it
Work site marker boards
If it has 2 yellow flashing lights what does this indicate?
Who will give you authority to pass WSMB?
Indicates exit from a work site.
Authority from a PICOP is needed to pass it
Right away indicator
If RA is illuminated what does it mean to the driver?
Station duties complete
Train is secure
It is safe to proceed
Position light signals associated with a main aspect.
If the main aspect is aspect is displaying a red aspect but position light signal shows 2 lights af 45° what does it authorise the driver to do?
To proceed at caution towards the next train, signal or buffer stop and be prepared to stop short of any obstruction.
Distant signal
Is a yellow arm with a fishtail af the end. It has a black Chevron at the end.
What does it mean when the arm is horizontal?
What does it mean when raised or lowered by 45°?
What 2 lights can it display?
At horizontal position will show a yellow light. Means caution, be prepared to stop at the next signal.
At raised or lowered positions with green light, means all associated stop signals from the same single box are clear.
Can show a yellow or green light.
Semaphore signal. The Stop signal A red arm with a white vertical band. When horizontal what does it mean? When raised or lowered what does it mean? What 2 lights can a stop signal show?
When horizontal will show a red light. Means stop.
When raised or lowered will show a green light. Means proceed.
Red or green light. Green light nearest to the mast.
Name 3 types of route indication?
Stepping- normal method on running lines ( highest signal applies to main route, read left to right)
Stacking - normal for shunting. ( read top to bottom and left to right)
A route indicator- displays a letter or number to show the route which the movement is being signalled.
