After a train accident you must?

A

Switch on hazard lights or display a red light forward
Check if other lines are obstructed
Decide quickest way to stop approaching trains
Check exact location of your train
Tell signaller and confirm whether you need electricity switched off
When signaller tells you signal protection is provided placed a TCOC on every line that is obstructed
Only carry out emergency protection if the signaller cannot provide signal protection or if you cannot contact the signaller
If carrying out emergency protection reach a clear understanding with the guard as to which lines that person will protect
If carrying out emergency protection on your own you must first protect other lines, then protect the line which your train was travelling on

A

Place a TCOC on every obstructed line
Show a hand signal to anh approaching train
Protect with detonators
When you have completed emergency protection you must continue as far as necessary if you still need to contact the signaller or return to your train

A

At a distance of 2km place 3 dets 20 metres apart on the other obstructed line (adjacent)

A

Place TCOC on line your train is standing and on both adjacent lines
At a distance of 2km place 3 dets 20 metres apart.
This should be on every other line that is obstructed (either side of the line that your train is standing)

A

You will have already placed TCOC on lines
If when walking to carry out emergency protection a train approaches you must place 3 dets immediately and display a hand danger signal to the approaching train

Carrying out emergency protection and you reach a telephone or signal box, what should you do?

A

You will have already placed TCOC on lines
If you have not been able to contact the signaller and you reach a telephone or signal box within the full emergency distance you must first place 3 dets on the line and then speak to the signaller.
You do not need to continue to the full protection distance if the signaller confirms that signal protection is being provided.

A

You will have placed TCOC on obstructed lines.
If you reach a tunnel entrance before reaching the full protection distance, you must first place 3 dets at the tunnel entrance.
If the fu protection distance is within the tunnel you must continue through the tunnel to the far end and place 3 dets there

A

If you reach a diverging junction before reaching the full protection distance you must place 3 dets before you reach the junction and then decide the order in which you protect each line at the 2km distance.

Where possible where should you not stop and what should you do?

A

Dont stop in a tunnel, viaduct of any other unsuitable place.

Try to put out fire but if not possible try to separate burning vehicles to stop fire spreading

If there is an accidental train division what should you do?

A

Check nobody has fallen. Ensure gangway doors are secure.
Make sure that both portions of the train are secure and vehicles accounted for.
Tell guard about situation
Check couplings where the train has divided to see if they have damaged the track or line side equipment
Check couplings to see if there is any damage which would prevent recoupling the portions
If the 2 portions can be recouped must get authority from signaller first
If the 2 portions cannot be recoupled place 3 dets 300 metres away from both ends of the rear portion. Tell signaller that the rear portion is to be left and its location.

A

Ask for electricity to be turned off
If you cannot contact the signaller or the signaller cannot provide signal protection you must carry out emergency protection.
