When speaking to the signaller what must you make sure?
Speaking to the correct signaller
The signaller clearly understands at which signal your train is standing

If a number is displayed on a SPT, what does this mean?
Instead of contacting the signaller immediately you must do so within the number of minutes shown.
Contacting the signaller - NON standard arrangements
If there is a white diamond with a telephone number displayed, what are your actions?
If you cannot contact the signaller from your cab you must only leave your cab to use ANOTHER telephone (no telephone provided at a signal with a white diamond) in an emergency or if the driver (or competent person) of a train on another line has told you that the signaller has blocked the adjacent line and it is safe to get down from your cab to use another telephone.
Limited clearance at SPT
If there is a limited clearance warning sign af the signal but no white or yellow diamond sign with the letter “X” can you use the telephone?
Yes as
It is in a position of safety in relation to the adjacent running line
Protection is provided by the presence of your train
Limited clearance at SPT
Yellow or white diamond with the letter “X” or yellow roundel on the telephone cabinet
Can you leave your cab to use a SPT which has these signs?
