Entering a driving cab
You must only enter driving cab to?
Secure train (lock cab doors)
Carry out rescue operations
Use cab radio to call emergency services or speak to the signaller
Get equipment to carry out protection of the line or extinguish a fire
Make a note of short life evidence

After a derailment can any part of a train enter service before being inspected by a rolling stock technician?

Following a train collision with an obstruction on the line what should you do?
Bring train to a stand
Check for any damage caused by the collision which might affect safe movement and report

If after checking your train a vehicle has become loose or might make contact with line side structures. What should you do?
Arrange for the line to be cleared from the running line at first suitable location
Before moving vehicle you must:-
Get signaller permission
Get authority from rolling stock technician before any movement can be made safely
If possible move passengers from affected vehicle
Don’t exceed 10mph or 5mph over points and crossings
Floods
State the procedure where flood water is present?
Up to the bottom of the rail head- normal working
Between bottom of the rail head and the top of the rail head - max 5mph
Above top of rail head - movement suspended
If flood water dis lodging ballast- stop train
Snow
At what depth of snow should you report to the signaller?
When 200mm of 8 inches above the top of the railhead
Snow
When driving in snow what driving precaution measures should you undertake?
Max speed of 100mph
Reduce speed by 10mph but no need to reduce below 50mph.
Carry out running brake tests every 3 to 5 minutes reducing a retardation of 10mph
