In what circumstances may a wrong direction movement be authorised?

A

Failed train, cannot use cab at leading end
Engineering train moving to or from a possession
Wrong route taken
Assisting a failed train
Single line working is in operation
Ground frame shunting movement
Obstruction, moving to or from
Overrun, train has overrun platform
Divided train, front portion is to return to rear portion
Locum 21. A rail grinding train is to extinguish a fire

A

Signaller or
Pilotman or handsignaller acting on the signaller instructions
Must drive from cab at the leading end of the movement

A

You must control the speed of the train to comply with the speed shown between the board and the crossing

A

Stop before you reach the crossing
If an emergency plunger is provided, you must use this to operate the crossing controls.
If the plunger has not been operated you may pass over as long as you make sure it is safe to do so and sound the horn continuously until the front of your train is on the crossing

If there is no attendant at the crossing you must?

A

Stop opposite the signal protecting the crossing on the other line and get further instructions from the signaller.
If single line working is in operation the pilotman will tell you to approach the crossing at caution and not pass over until it is safe to do so
