what is it?
A
life threatening allergic reaction

symptoms (8)
A
- rash
- urticaria
- laryngeal oedema
- angio-oedema
- severe bronchospasm
- hypotension
- shock
- nausea, vomitting or diarrhoea

ABCDE (2, 4,4)
A
A
- secure airway
- call anaesthetist if worried
B
- O2 15l/min via reservoir mask
- treat wheeze if present
- 5mg salbutamol nebulised, 5-10 mins
- Ipratropium bromide 500mcg nebulised
C
- IV access
- bloods
- raise legs to help restore circulation
- Fluid bolus
e. g. 500 mls 0.9% NaCl

Main treatment (4)
A
- adrenaline 0.5mg (0.5mls of 1:1000) intramuscular
- repeat every 5 mins if necessary - chorphenamine 10 mg IV
- hydrocortisone 200 mg IV
- may need vasopressors or inotropes to maintain bp
