  3. laryngeal oedema
  4. angio-oedema
  5. severe bronchospasm
  6. hypotension
  7. shock
  8. nausea, vomitting or diarrhoea

A

  • secure airway
  • call anaesthetist if worried

B

  • O2 15l/min via reservoir mask
  • treat wheeze if present
  • 5mg salbutamol nebulised, 5-10 mins
  • Ipratropium bromide 500mcg nebulised

C

  • IV access
  • bloods
  • raise legs to help restore circulation
  • Fluid bolus
    e. g. 500 mls 0.9% NaCl

Main treatment (4)

A
  1. adrenaline 0.5mg (0.5mls of 1:1000) intramuscular
    - repeat every 5 mins if necessary
  2. chorphenamine 10 mg IV
  3. hydrocortisone 200 mg IV
  4. may need vasopressors or inotropes to maintain bp
