Hello my name is Anjali Singh and I am a third year medical student. Please can I confirm your name, age and DOB?

Nice to meet you. Today I have been asked insert a catheter into your bladder to help you pass urine.

This will involve me inserting a rubber tube into your bladder through your vagina. It should not be painful but it may be uncomfortable. You will be required to be bare below the waist and the examiner will be acting as a chaperone today if that is ok?

1. prepare equipment
2. put sterile gloves on
3. ask chaperone to fill gallipot up
4. create a sterile field
5. clean the area
6. insert instilla gel - 3-5 mins

2. put urine catch pot user patient
3. use gauze to open the labia
4. insert the catheter
5. inflate the balloon
6. tug to check the balloon is inflated
7. attach a catheter bag
