Rocuronium Class
A
Non-depolarizing blocker

Rocuronium Action
A
Competitively binds to cholinergic receptors at the motor end plates. This blocks neuromuscular transmission. The drug is antagonized by acetylcholinesterase inhibitors such as Neostigmine and Edrophonium.

- Skeletal muscle relaxation during mechanical ventilation
* Maintenance of paralysis after intubation

- Pregnancy Class C
- Hepatic impairment
- Neuromuscular disease
- Cerebral palsy
- Myasthenia gravis
- Eaton-Lambert syndrome
- Pulmonary disease or pulmonary HTN
- Dehydration
- Major trauma or burns
- Electrolyte acid-base disorder
- Carcinomatosis
- Severe
- Anaphylaxis history

A
Adults:
• 1 mg/kg IV/IO
Pediatrics:
• 1 mg/kg IV/IO

A
- Onset: 1-2 minutes
* Duration: 30-60 minutes

Rocuronium Side Effects
A
- Transient hypotension
- Tachycardia
- Residual muscle weakness
- Allergic or hypersensitive reactions
- Hypertension
- Wheezing
- Abnormal EKG

Rocuronium Interactions
A
Fentanyl and anti-arrhythmic medications can potentiate Rocuronium.
