RFM chapter 9 - AFCS Limits and EP's Flashcards
Max Airspeed limitations (AFCS)
VMC
IMC
VMC:
- Manoeuvering, Approach = 120
- Climb, Cruise, Descent = 100
IMC
- Manoeuvering, Approach = 100
- Climb, Cruise, Descent = 80
Note: VMC speeds can be used if flying attentive
Minimum airspeed in IAS mode:
30 Kts
Minimum airspeed in ALT Mode
NOTE
In ALT mode below 80 kts the airspeed indicator shall be monitored closely
Minimum height for hands–off and feet–off operation during
- T/O and approach:
- Other than T/O or approach:
200 ft agl
500 ft agl
Maximum airspeed for hands–on operation in cruise following a failure (AFCS):
120 kts
Maximum airspeed for hands–on operation in ILS approach following a failure (AFCS):
100 kts
ILS approach limitations
- Minimum LOC interception distance
4 nm
ILS approach limitations
Maximum LOC interception angle
90*
ILS approach limitations (AFCS)
- Maximum approach angle
4.6*
Max. operating time on ground if OAT at or +40C

In flight:
Max. OAT for AFCS continuous operation in case of loss of avionics ventilation
+ 30*
Below _____ IAS and with IAS mode engaged, use of the GA mode is prohibited
60kts
STICK CENTERING LIMITATION
Maximum wind
15 Kts
Second APM disengagement or failure

1. Flying controls – Hands-on
If under SP/DPIFR operation
- LAND AS SOON AS PRACTICABLE
Total loss of one cyclic axis series actuation

1. Flying controls – Hands-on
If under SPIFR operation:
- LAND AS SOON AS PRACTICABLE
Second AHRS failure

1. Flying controls – Hands-on
If under SP/DPIFR operation
2. LAND AS SOON AS POSSIBLE
AHRS failure

- Artificial horizon on PFD – Check attitude
2. Flying controls – Hands-on
3. RCU – Reconfigure to valid AHRS
If under SP/DPIFR operation
- LAND AS SOON AS PRACTICABLE
Localized AHRS discrepancy

- Artificial horizon on PFD – Check attitude
2. Flying controls – Hands-on
3. RCU – Reconfigure to valid AHRS
If under SP/DPIFR operation
- LAND AS SOON AS PRACTICABLE
Cyclic and yaw (double) trim failure

1. Flying controls – Hands-on
If under SP/DPIFR operation
- LAND AS SOON AS PRACTICABLE
Cyclic and yaw trim failure

1. Flight controls – Hands on
If under SP/DPIFR operation
- LAND AS SOON AS PRACTICABLE
Roll mode (HDG, LOC, VOR, VOR.A) decoupling: HDG discrepancy

In IFR or if reengagement of previously engaged or new roll mode (HDG, LOC, VOR, VOR.A) is intended:
- Flying controls – Hands–on
- ND compass rose – Compare with standby compass
3. RCU – Reconfigure to the AHRS that gene– rates the same heading as standby compass
- APMS – Arm/engage roll mode
If aircraft is out of a previously effective LOC/ VOR/ VOR.A capture condition:
- Flying controls – Bring aircraft back to capture condition
- Mode performance – Monitor
If flight shall be continued with an other mode (different from HDG, LOC, VOR, VOR.A):
- APMS – Select other mode or keep autotrim
Roll mode (HDG, LOC, VOR, VOR.A) degradation: HDG discrepancy

In IFR or if roll mode shall be kept:
- Flying controls – Hands–on
- ND compass rose – Compare with standby compass
3. RCU – Reconfigure to the AHRS that generates the same heading as standby compass
- Mode performance – Monitor
If flight shall be continued with another mode (different from HDG, LOC, VOR, VOR.A):
- APMS – Select desired mode
Roll mode (HDG, LOC, VOR, VOR.A) degradation: HDG sensor failure

In IFR or if roll mode shall be kept:
- Flying controls – Hands–on
2. RCU – Reconfigure to the AHRS of alternate side
- Mode performance – Monitor
If flight shall be continued with another mode (different from HDG, LOC, VOR, VOR.A):
- APMS – Select desired mode
Forward speed
- Min. airspeed (VminI)
- Min. airspeed for IFR approach
Min. airspeed (VminI) 60 kts
Min. airspeed for IFR approach - 70 kts
Max. rate of climb/descent in V/S pr ALT.A upper mode?
+/-2200 ft/min
Max. bank angle (above 12000 ft)
20*
