Research in OB Flashcards
Evidence-based management
Using studies and research to guide your management style
Empirical Vs Falsifiable
Empirical- Must be proven right my multiple studies
Falsifiable- Proven to be false through studies
Observation Design
Watching what people are doing, and making a theory based upon your findings.
Participate- Involved with the group you are studying
Direct- Only watching, not involved in group
Correlation design
Using surveys, studies, and existing data to make decisions
Experimental design
Changing a variable in an experiment to find what effects an organization, and what does it effect
What are the 3 kinds of design
Experimental
Observation
Corraltional
Reliability vs viability
Reliability- Findings can be duplicated across different organizations
Viability- Findings are true, and not tampered by improper research
Hawthrone study
People react differently when being watched
Internal vs External validity
Internal validity- How confident a researcher can be that the findings are due to the IV (Independent Variable)
External viability- Can the findings be transferred
