Ectopic Pregnancy
Baby begins to develop outside of uterus, usually in fallopian tubes, can be ovary, cervix, stomach area. 50% of women have had PID or scarring d/t surgery or endometriosis.
S/S of Ectopic Pregnancy are:
Abnormal bleeding or amenorrhea. Pain in pelvis and shoulders. Breast tenderness, L. back pain. Shock is s/s of 20% of ectopic preg. Previous endometriosis.
Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID)
Inflammation in pelvic region. S/S are: vaginal discharge, pain in LLQ and RLQ, dysmenorrheal, metrorrhagia and severe tenderness on palpation of cervix and adnexa. Usually starts with gonococcal infection.
Dysmenorrhea
Painfull menses. (Cramps)
Amenorrhea
Missing periods (lack of bleeding)
Metrorrhagia
Spotting or unusual bleeding between periods.
Adnexa
Appendages of an organ (like uterus)
Gonococcal Infection
Gonorrhea
Endometriosis
Endometrial tissue growing in abnormal locations. Tx: Pain management or surgery. Part of spectrum of PID.
Dyspareunia
Painful sex (before , during or after)
Hypermenorrhea
Too frequent menses.
The main 4 common STD’s are:
Genital Herpes, Candidiasis (yeast/thrush), Gonorrhea and Syphillis.
Genital Herpes S/S (5)
1.Tingling, itch, pain, 2.eruption of pustules,#. 5 day ruptur of lesions, 4.dysuria, 5. H/A, Muscle ache, lethargy, lymphadenopathy
Gonorrhea S/S (6)
1.Transmission sex or at birth, 2. Dysuria, 3. Discharge, 4.Dyspareunia, and bleeding after sex, 5.Fever, 6.abdominal pain.
Syphillis S/S: 1st degree
Transmission via sex, kissing w/lesions, birth. S/S: chancre @ site (incubates 1-3 months)
