Renal Failure Flashcards
Main problem for embalmers:
Waste products that build up in body neutralize formaldehyde, creating problems with preservation and tissue firming
Problem: Sallow yellow skin discolouration
Treatment: Use fluid dyes, cosmetics
Problem: Toxic waste buildup, acidosis of tissues; tissues don’t firm; rapid decomposition
Treatment: Use very strong solution (high index fluids)
Problem: Gastric ulcers or GI bleeds may cause purge, affect distribution
Treatment: Use restricted cervical injection, or sectional embalming if necessary
Problem: Difficult to achieve preservation
Treatment: Use fluid dyes to trace distribution, use coinjection chemicals, esp. buffers
Cavities must be thoroughly treated
Aspirate immediately, and treat with at least 3 bottles of cavity fluid; reaspirate and reinject later
