A
Arterial obstruction prevents bloodflow to tissues

Cause - wet gangrene
A
Venous congestion causes stagnant buildup of blood

Treatment:
A
- Topically disinfect area
- Inject limb separately w/stronger solution
- Treat affected area hypodermically
- Apply surface compress of cavity fluid or other chemical & wrap in plastic
- wrap in plastic w/embalming powder

Characteristics- Wet gangrene
A
Moist, dark, rotten, putrid tissues Microbial growth - causes distention & foul odour No line of demarcation Build up of toxins, metabolic wastes Bedsores/ulcers

A
No odour
Dry, shrunken tissues
Low microbial activity
Tissues dark in colour
