detects blood glucose concentrations & releases hormones to alter the amount of glucose in the blood.

A

pancreas detects it, increases secretion of insulin & decreases secretion of glucagon.
insulin causes muscle & liver cells to remove glucose from blood & store it as glycogen in tissue cells.
liver converts glucose to glycogen.

pancreas detects it, decreases secretion of insulin & increases secretion of glucagon.
glucagon causes liver cells to convert glycogen to glucose & release it back into blood.
