Rate of reaction (RP) Flashcards
Method of rate of reaction (volume of gas produced)
add 50cm3 of hydrochloric acid into a conical flask, use a ruler to measure 3 cm strip of zinc, connect a gas syringe to the conical flask and set plunger to zero, add zinc strip and place bung on top of conical flask, start timer and record gas volume every 30s, stop when no more gas is produced, repeat at different concentrations
Method of rate of reaction (measuring colour change or turbidity)
add 50 cm3 of sodium thiosulfate into a conical flask, draw a large X on paper and place underneath, add 10cm3 of hydrochloric acid, start timer, stop when the X cannot be seen, repeat at different concentrations of sodium thiosulfate
