Q

how to draw scale diagrams

A
  1. Sketch a simple force diagram.
  2. Find the resultant forces horizontally and vertically.
Draw a scale diagram with the vectors following each other. (this makes sure the resultant force is in the correct direction) (Use 1cm to 1N if possible)
Draw the total resultant force and measure its length with a ruler.
Measure the angle from the horizontal with a protractor.

Q

if we have constant speed what happens to the acceleration

A

it would stay constant at zero because if it was more than zero then the velocity would be changing the speed

Q

what is a uniform plank

A

A uniform plank would be held in horizontal equilibrium by a pivot at the mid-point. It follows that a non-uniform rod would not be in equilibrium by a pivot at the mid-point.
