Q
What is the drug class of ramipril?
A
ACE inhibitor
2
Q
What is ramipril used for?
A
Hypertension
Heart failure
Post MI to improve survival
3
Q
What is the mechanism of action of ramipril?
A
- ACEi
- Inhibits ACE from converting AngI > AngII
- inhibition of vasodilation > reduces BP + workload of heart
- less AngII > less aldosterone > less Na+ + H2O reabsorbed > lower blood volume
- less ADH
4
Q
Adverse drug effects of ramipril
A
- dry cough
- hyperkalaemia
- angioedma
- hypotension
- worsens kidney disease
5
Q
Important drug drug interactions of ramipril
A
- NSAIDs
- ARBs or another ACEi
- lithium
- potassium sparing diuretics
6
Q
Contraindications of ramipril
A
Hyperkalaemia
Renal artery stenosis
AKD
Pregnancy
Idiopathic angioedema
