Irreversible inhibit H+/K+ ATPase in gastric parietal cells > reduces stomach acid secretion

- Abdominal pain
- constipation/diarrhoea
- headache + dizziness
- confusion
- can mask symptoms of gastro-oesophageal cancer

What are important drug drug interactions of omeprazole?

- Omeprazole is a CYP inhibitor > reduces clopidogrel action
- can increase effects of warfarin + phenytoin
