What are the uses of clopidogrel?
A
- Primary + secondary prevention of TIA
- Peripheral arterial disease
- NSTEMI/STEMI
- Stroke
- Prevention of atherothrombotic events

What is the mechanism of action for clopidogrel?
A
- inhibtis ADP mediated platelet aggregation
- inhibits binding of ADP to P2Y12 receptor
- inhibits activation of GPIIb/Ia receptors
- irreversible binding

What are the adverse drug reactions of clopidogrel?
A
- Bleeding
- GI upset: dyspepsia + diarrhoea
- thrombocytopenia (rare)

What are the important drug drug interactions of clopidogrel?
A
Require CYPs for activation
- CYP inhibitors e.g. omeprazole, Ciprofloxacin, erythromycin
- other anti-platelets + anticoagulants
- NSAIDs
