Radius Flashcards
Where is the radius located in the body?
Forearm
What does the radius sit between?
arm and carpals
What main movement does the radius perform?
Radiates around a fixed ulna
Are there any common non-metric traits?
No
What and where does the radius articulate?
With the humerus at the head
With ulna at the ulna notch and head
With lunate at the medial distal surface
With scaphoid at the laterla distal surface
What feature has a smooth medial lip on it?
Head
Where is the radial tuberosity located?
Medial
What two lines are much blunter than the interosseous crest?
Posterior and anterior oblique lines
Where is the pronate ridge roughly located?
Mid shaft and is a roughened area with protrudes slightly
What side of the radius is smooth?
Anterior (posterior is rougher)
Where is the dorsal tubercle located?
Posteriorly
Where is the surface for lunate located?
Medially
Where is the surface for scaphoid located?
Laterally
What other crest is present on the radius?
Supra-styloid crest
Where is the styloid process located?
Laterally anad at the bottom
What notch is located on the radius?
Ulnar notch
What is the origin and insertion of biceps brachii?
Origin: supraglenoid tubercle and coracoid process of scapula
Inserts: radial tuberosity of radius
What movements does biceps brachii produce?
flexion of forearm
What is the origin and insertion of supinator?
Origin: supinator crest of ulna and lateral epicondyle of humerus
Inserts: proximal lateral-posterior diaphysis of radius
What movements does supinator produce?
Supination of forearm
What is the origin and insertion of pronator teres?
Origin: medial epicondyle of humerus and medial ulna
Inserts: pronator crest/tubercle of lateral midshaft of radius
What movement does pronator teres produce?
forearm pronation and flexion
What is the origin and insertion of pronator quadratus?
Origin: distal anterior-medial diaphysis of ulna
Inserts: distal anterior diaphysis of radius
What movements does pronator quadratus produce?
Forearm and hand pronation
What is the origin and insertion of brachioradialis?
Origin: lateral supracondylar ridge of humerus
Inserts: area superior to styloid process of radius
What movements does brachioradialis produce?
forearm flexion
