Fibula and Patella Flashcards
What does the fibula sit in between?
the femur and foot
Where does the fibula sit in relation to the tibia?
Laterally
How does the fibula serve an indirect role at the knee joint?
Only serves to anchor ligaments
What does the fibula form at the ankle?
forms the lateral border
Where and what does the fibula articulate with?
With tibia at the facet of the head and facet of the lateral malleolus
With the talus at the talar facet
What is the highest point on the fibula?
Styloid process/apex (sits on lateral posterior side)
What is the head of the fibula an attachment site for?
Fibular collateral ligament and biceps femoris
What is the sharpest crest which twists as it descends?
Interosseous crest
What is the fibular groove/malleolar sulcus?
A small notch near the distal end of fibula
Where is the lateral malleolus
At the bottom of fibula
What is the talar facet?
Smooth bit on either side of lateral malleolus
Where does the malleolar facet sit?
Posterior side and is a small indentation
Where is the apex of malleolus?
At the bottom of fibula
What is at the top of the patella?
Base - it is a flattened area for the patellar ligament
Where is the apex of the patella?
Inferior
