Pectoral Girdle - Scapula Flashcards
Where is the scapula located?
On the posterior (dorsal) side of the body
Describe the scapula
It is very thin Triangular and concave on anterior side Articulations on distal side Follows curvature of ribs Suspending from vertebral column, ribs and skull by muscles
How many surfaces does the scapula have?
2
How many borders does the scapula have?
3
How many angles does the scapula have?
2
What process is situated just above the humeral head?
Acromial process
What is the acromial angle?
Where the acromion changes shape/angle
Where is the acromioclavicular facet?
On the internal side of scapula (it is not a clear articulation)
What is the spine?
It attaches the acromion to the rest of the scapula
Where is the coracoid process/tubercle situated?
Opposite from the acromion and lower (very beak-like)
Where is the suprascapular notch situated?
At the very top of the scapula
Where is the supraglenoid tubercle?
Above the glenoid cavity
What does the glenoid fossa/cavity articulate with?
Humeral head
Where is the glenoid notch located?
On top of the glenoid fossa on the same side at the coracoid process
What is the infraglenoid tubercle?
A tubercle on the underside of the glenoid fossa
What is the spinoglenoid notch?
Notch between the spine and glenoid fossa
Name the 2 necks
Anatomic neck
Surgical neck
Name the 3 borders
Lateral (axillary)
Medial (vertebral) - much thinner
Superior
Where is the subscapular fossa?
Anterior scapula (opposite side of spine)
Where is the supraspinous fossa?
On the same side as the spine (posterior) and above the infraspinous fossa
Where is the infraspinous fossa?
On the same side as the spine (posterior) and below the supraspinous fossa
Name the 2 angles
Superior(medial)
Inferior
