RAAS Flashcards
Actions of Angiotensin II
retains sodium, vasoconstriction, releases aldosteroe
-causes high BP and thick vessel walls
ACE inhibitors
-what do they do?
-Most common side effect
-used for?
-route
inhibits ACE –> lowers BP
Also increases bradykinin –> cough
used for HF, MI, etc…
oral
Adverse effects of ACE inhibitors
1st dose htn
teratogenic
COUGH
angioedema –> fucks up airway
Angiotensin II receptor blockers
-compare to ACE inhib
-2 common types
-Don’t work as well as ACEi, but tolerated better and work the same –> don’t use at same time
-no bradykinin
-Losartan and Spironolactone (also blocks aldoseterone)
Losartan side effects
low bp
other (fatigue headache dizziness)
swelling
allergic rxn
raised K
teratogenic
AKI (due to low perfusion) –>ELEVATED CREATINE
Nasal congestion
