degeneration of neurons
reduced ACh
known risk factors
old age

Cholinesterase inhibitors: Donepzil, Galantamine, Rivastigmine
drug interactions
don’t take drugs that can block cholinergic receptors:
-1st gen antihistamines
-tricyclinc antidepressants
-conventional antipsychotics
adverse effects of cholinesterase inhibitprs
cholinergic side effects
GI issues
dizziness

bronchoconstricion
Donepezil
mild to severe AD
watch out for falls and BRADYCARDIA
Rivastigmine
irreversible cholinesterase inhibition
WEIGHT LOSS
bad for ppl with basically any other health conditions
memantine
moderate to severe AD
better tolerated than cholinesterase inhibitors
Risperidone and Olanzapine
increase mortality from cardiovascular events and infection
