Questionnaie Construction Flashcards
Likert scales
Where responds indicate their agreement with a statement using a scale of usually 5 points .
The scale ranges from strongly agree to strongly disagree
Rating scales
Respondents identify a value that represents their strength of feeling about a particular topic
Fixed choice option
Includes a list of possible options and respondents are required to indicate those that apply to them
Weaknesses of using rating scales
Highly subjective.one participant version of an 8 is different to another persons version of an 8
Writing a good questionnaire
-avoiding the use of jargon-using technical terms that are only familiar to those within a specific or area
-avoid emotive language and leading questions-simple terms should be used & must avoid guiding respondents into answering the questions in a particular way
-double barrelled questions and double negatives-avoid having two or more questions in one =respondents may agree with one half of the question but not the other half & e.g I am not unhappy in my job
