What are the duties of the quality assurance committee?

A

Monitor the standards practice of registrants by administrating a continuing competency program and monitoring compliance with that program

Update the continuing competency program

Make recommendations to the board regarding changes to the standards of practice, including the code of conduct

Oversee the practice support service

Develop resources to enhance the practice of registration, such as practice support checklists

Identify and sponsor workshops to enhance the practice of registrants

There are seven categories that registrants have to meet within the continuing competency program. Describe each and identify how many hours are needed for each category.

A

Category A is 12 hours of direct participatory formal programs

Category B is 11 hours of self study

Category C is 12 hours of structured interactive activities with peers regulated under the HPA, the social workers act, or legislation, and another jurisdiction

Category D is five hours of ethics, which can be drawn from category A, B and/ or C

Category E is self-care, and self monitoring

Category F is five hours of effect activities related to indigenous, cultural safety, and humility issues to enhance cultural practice, which can be drawn from categories A B and or C

Category G is completion of the annual practice review questionnaire and quiz, which is five multiple-choice questions on the college website

How does the college confirm that a registrant has completed the continuing competency hours?

A

Attestation at renewal, that one is in compliance with a CCP

Select is part of the colleges, random audit, submission of log sheet detailing CCP activities

Further questions to determine compliance, registrants are obligated to respond

What services does the practice support service provide when consulting with registrants?

A

Registrant can contact a senior psychologist, who is part of the service to inquire about things such as unfamiliar situations, and assisting with identification of issues and options

Note, they do not help with legal advice or clinical consultation, and they are unable to assist with complete registration matters .
