Q

QRH: Landing with slats or flaps jammed

A

Present as a QRH checklist.
Landing distance procedure - apply.
Use selected speeds. To configure for landing, select VFE NEXT -5kt, then when the speed reaches VFE NEXT, select the flaps lever one step down.
Overspeed alerts and VLS on the PFD are calculated using actual flaps position.
VFE/VFE NEXT are displayed on the PFD from the flaps lever position.
If the go around speed from the QRH is above the VFE displayed on the PFD, this is OK. The overspeed warning should not be triggered because the overspeed warning comes from the actual flap position, whereas the VFE on the PFD comes from the flap lever position.
If landing overweight, VLS may be higher than VFE NEXT. In this case, select VLS and move the flap lever to the next position. Then gradually lower the selected speed to match VLS as the flaps extend. Autothrust will need to be disconnected until the landing configuration is reached.

Q

QRH: Fuel leak

A

“If one inner tank depletes faster than the other by at least 300kg in less than 30 minutes”, when translated into English is:

  • check the fuel in each tank and note the time
  • come back 2 minutes later to see if the difference is 20kg or more
  • if both tanks are depleting at a similar rate, you have a leak from the center tank or the APU feeding line.

A

08/10/24

32
Q

QRH: L/G Gravity Extension

A

Key points are:
“IF TIME PERMITS” - recycle 3 times. That means after the first attempt to put the landing gear down, you are allowed 3 more attempts. So:
Gear goes down - initial attempt
Select gear up then down again - retry no, 1 (then wait 60s)
Select gear up then down again - retry no. 2 (wait 60s)
Select gear up then down again - retry no. 3 (wait 120s)
If there is still no gear safe indication, go for the handle.
IF TIME DOES NOT PERMIT:
Go straight for the handle.
