Q

Crosswind take off

A

NEO: max crosswind 35kt (take off only)
CEO: max crosswind 38kt
The maximum crosswind for take off is an AFM limitation due to the engine size. It is a certification limit.
OMB recommends a rolling take off procedure when crosswind >20kt.

Q

Crosswinds: can you take off or land above the maximum crosswind limitation?

A

It depends.
Take off: no. 35kt (NEO) or 38kt (CEO) is a certification limit.
Landing: yes. 38kt (NEO & CEO) is a maximum demonstrated crosswind component experienced during the certification process, and is not a AFM limitation. Airbus recommends that operators do not operate intentionally in winds that exceed this.

Q

RTO procedure

A

Below 100kt: Most ECAM warnings & cautions will warrant a rejected take off.
NB, due to flight phase inhibition, many ECAM warnings will be inhbited above 80kt.
Reminder of the flight phases:
1st engine T/O power to 80kt: phase 3
80kt to lift off: phase 4
lift off to 1500ft: phase 5.
Any ECAM not inhibited in phase 3 & 4 will affect the immedate actions, e.g. L/G UPLOCK FAULT is inhibited only in phase 4, so will display up to 80kt and then from lift off.
