what does high dose of Cocaine cause?
blocks fast sodium channels in myocardium –> MI + Arrhythmias
increased myocardial O2 demand
procoagulant effect
vasoconstriction
Amphetamine MOA
blocks VMAT –> can’t package NT into vesicles
reversal of DAT + NET +SERT direction
increased synaptic DA, NE, 5-HT
Amphetamine S/E
psychosis = delusions, hallucinations, addiction
methylene-dioxy-methamphetamine
Ecstacy (MDMA)
Ecstasy MOA
blocks SERT –> increased serotonin in cleft
Ecstasy Main Effect
fosters intimacy w/o imparing intellect
