Project+ Study Notes 11 Flashcards
should outline the criteria for project approval. These criteria will be used to determine whether the deliverables and the final product, service, or result of the project are acceptable and satisfactory. They might include items such as quality criteria, performance criteria, fitness for use, and so on. This section should also describe the process that stakeholders will use to indicate their acceptance of the deliverables.
the project charter
should review and sign the project charter. This sign-off provides the project manager with the authority to move forward, and it serves as the official notification of the start of the project. This approval is usually required prior to the release of purchase orders or the commitment by functional managers to provide resources to support the project.
the project sponsor
Once the project charter is signed and approved, your next task is to hold a project kick-off meeting. This meeting should include the sponsor, your key project team members, and the key stakeholders on the project. You’ll want to address and discuss most of the sections in the charter during this meeting. It’s important that everyone understands the goals and objectives of the project, the project description, the high-level milestones, and the general project approach.
Info
includes all the components that make up the product or service of the project and the results the project intends to produce. ??? may also include a more detailed analysis of the product, an additional cost-benefit analysis, and an examination of alternative solutions.
Scope Statement
is to document the project objectives, the deliverables, and the work required to produce the deliverables. It is then used to direct the project team’s work during the Executing processes and as a basis for future project decisions. The ??? is an agreement between the project team and the project customer that states precisely what the work of the project will produce.
purpose of the (scope statement)
??? describe the overall goal the project hopes to achieve. Objectives should be measurable and verifiable, and they are often time-bound.
??? describes the key characteristics of the product or service you are creating through this project.
Objectives / The project scope description
If the result of your project is a tangible product, you should include the product scope description here as well. The product scope description describes the features, functions, and explains the major characteristics of the product.
??? include the process and criteria you’ll use to determine that the deliverables are complete and satisfactorily meet expectations.
Acceptance criteria
help you determine whether the project is on track and progressing as planned and whether deliverables meet expectations. KPIs are monitored periodically and alert you that you must take action to get the project back on track. An example of a KPI might be specifying that a deliverable must meet certain performance throughput measures.
Key performance indicators (KPIs)
are anything that isn’t included as a deliverable or work of the project. It’s important to document exclusions from scope so there is no misunderstanding about features or deliverables once the product is complete.
Exclusions from scope
??? estimates based on actual duration and cost of similar projects or the expert judgment of someone familiar with the work of the project. ??? estimates are usually wide-ranging and do not have to be precise estimates at this stage in the project.
