  • Hoovervilles and hoover blankets named after him
  • too little too late
  • took private state action rather than direct action
  • blamed international economics for depression
  • 1932 bonus army where he got rid of them with the army (would cost 2.3 mill to pay them but gave 2 billion to the banks)
  • put tariffs on foreign goods so less exports
