The working class were uneducated and illiterate. They could only play sports with simple rules such as mob football.
How did money and sports link in Post Industrial Britain?
The working class worked long hours for little money, therefore they could not afford equipment such as guns or rackets for sport. Whereas the upper class had plenty of money for leisure and sport and built their own facilities in their homes.
