Professionals are usually working class, they get payed to play sport

Amateurs are usually upper/middle class but okay the sport for fun

There is still a division, however upper & middle class start to merge

Sport was still dominated by men, women were still deemed as weak

There was equality for women in education and later sport

Animal hunting was still banned as well as cockerel fighting

Middle and upper class had access so public schools. Working class are still illiterate
Availability of Money:
Working class did long hours for little money Upper/middle class had money for sport & leisure
Availability of time:
Working class did long hours so he less time for sport (fatigue) Upper/middle class had more time as amateurs
What was the link between public schools and sport?
Public schools were open to the upper and middle class - it helped influence sports such as football, cricket and rugby.
What was the fagging system?
Public schools were open to ages 8-18 years and older boys made sure younger boys were keeping on track. The boys suddenly became exploited and bullied
What is the definition of athleticism?
It is a combination of physical endeavour and showing sportsmanship
