Practice activities and tasks for language skills development.
Activities and tasks designed to give learners opportunities to practice and extend their use of language..
Controlled activities.
To practice accuracy and form; making few mistakes. E.g. Copying words, chants, drills (guided repetition) replace key words, transformating sentences.
Free activities.
Allow students to use whatever language they wish to complete a task. These activities focus on fluency, communication and recalling vocabulary. E.g. Rank ordering/prioritasing, discussions, problem solving, wirting emails, etc.
Freer activities.
The teacher can predict some vocabulary. They provide repited practice of target language, integrating new and their own vocabulary. E.g. role-plays, information gaps, sentence completition, gap-fills, surveys.
Jumbled pictures.
Pictures in the wrong order.
Jigsaw reading.
Each student have part of a text and need to tell each other what he or she has in order to accomplish the whole text.
