Q

Bryophytes

A

Non - vascular plants. First plants that grow low to the ground and hold water in like a sponge. They lack vascular tissue so they depend on osmosis and diffusion to transport nutrients.

Q

Seedless vascular plants

A

Evolved after the non vascular plants. They developed vascular tissue and could grow tall. There are only a few remaining groups of this group.

Q

What is the role of pollen grains in seed producing vascular plants

Q

Flowers (angiosperms)

A

Sexual reproduction - both male and female gametes. They can transport their pollen in different ways - colourful (attract animals) or non colourful (wind)

Q

Fruit (angiosperms)

A

It is the “ovaries of the flower” which protects and disperses the seeds. 3 different ways - sweet (peach), floating (coconuts), or sticky (burs)

17
Q

Classification of Angiosperms

A

Based on structure of cotyledon

18
Q

1 cotyledon

A

Monocots

19
Q

2 cotyledon

A

Dicots
