Reasons for Pilgrimage
A
- Important for faith. Shows God how sorry they are.
- Jesus went to pilgrimage every year.
- Places of pilgrimage have special connections and hope the options would rub off on them.

Why is Jerusalem important?
A
- Cenacle/Upper Room. Last Supper is where Jesus instituted the Eucharist.
- Via Dolorosa. Where Jesus carried the cross.
- Church of the Holy Sepulchre. It is the holiest place as it is where Jesus died and was crucified.

Why is Walsingham important?
A
- They can feel close to the Virgin Mary.
- Brings Catholics and Anglicans together.
- It is a place where pilgrims claim their prayers have been answered.

Why do people not go to Walsingham?
A
- They believe that Mary cannot be venerated as the Virgin Mary. She had a child after Jesus.
- Holy spaces are useless as God can be found anywhere.
- Idolatry is forbidden. ‘Thou should have no other Gods.’

- Clergy and ordinary Christians to spend time together and learn from each other.
- It gives pilgrims an opportunity to discuss and learn about issues affecting Christians today.
- Gives Christians time apart from the stresses of life. Spiritual nourishment.
