Why is Jerusalem important?

A
  1. Cenacle/Upper Room. Last Supper is where Jesus instituted the Eucharist.
  2. Via Dolorosa. Where Jesus carried the cross.
  3. Church of the Holy Sepulchre. It is the holiest place as it is where Jesus died and was crucified.

Why is Walsingham important?

A
  1. They can feel close to the Virgin Mary.
  2. Brings Catholics and Anglicans together.
  3. It is a place where pilgrims claim their prayers have been answered.

Why do people not go to Walsingham?

A
  1. They believe that Mary cannot be venerated as the Virgin Mary. She had a child after Jesus.
  2. Holy spaces are useless as God can be found anywhere.
  3. Idolatry is forbidden. ‘Thou should have no other Gods.’
