Swine Erysipelas
Tx of Swine Erysipelas
Parenteral penicillin for 3 days/LA
Control of swine erysipelas
Vaccination using a killed vaccine of Serotype 2 or Serotypes 1 & 2
Primary course of 2 doses, given 4 weeks apart. Booster after 6 months
Use routinely in breeding stock and in growers / finishers where problems exist
Hygiene
What disease is characteristic of these C/S: Septicaemia, Arthritis (joint ill), Meningitis, Pneumonia and Bronchopneumonia (usually as a secondary) in suckling, weaned and occasionally in finishing pigs. It occurs rarely in adults. Often associated with PRRS infection.

parenteral penicillin injection for 3-5 days and dexamethasone by injection
