It is an organelle enclosed by a double membrane.

Where does the light dependent reactions occur?
A
The chloroplast consists of grana, an the grana consists of layers of thylakoids. The light dependent reactions occur in the thylakoids.

Where does the Calvin Cycle occur?
A
The chloroplast contain a stroma that is located outside the thylakoids. The Calvin Cycle occurs in that stroma.
