Cell Respiration: Part 7 : Aerobic Respiration: Part 2: Overview: Electron Transport Chain and Chemiosmosis Flashcards
1
Q
Where is the Electron Transport Chain (ETC) located?
A
It is located in the cristae membrane of a mitochondrion.
2
Q
What does each ETC consist of?
A
It consists of carrier proteins that transport high energy electrons from the Krebs Cycle.
3
Q
What happens to the high energy electron during ETC?
A
The energy in the electrons are used to power pumping protons, creating a proton gradient that helps produce ATP in a process called Chemiosmosis.
