Q

Describe the bonds/energy in small inorganic molecules

A

joined by strong bonds and so need a lot of energy to break them apart and they release a lot of energy when they are made

Q

Describe the bonds/energy in organic molecules

A

organic molecules contain more but weaker bonds - this means they require less energy to be made and less energy to be broken

Q

Describe the importance of bonds in respiration

A

When breaking down glucose an oxygen, very little energy is released. The excess energy released is used to synthesise ATP.

Q

Describe the importance of bonds in photosynthesis

A

When breaking bonds in water and carbon dioxide, it requires a lot of energy. Whereas making bonds in glucose and oxygen, not very much energy is released.
