A
ARB’s
-“sartan”
2
Q
ARBS
Angiotensin 2 receptor blockers/ antagonists
A
MOA: block the effects of angiotensin 2
- AT1 and AT2 receptor binding is blocked
- vasodilation
- ⬇️ aldosterone
- ⬇️ renin release
3
Q
Side effects
A
- hyperkalemia
- NO cough
- hypotension
- dizziness
- renal dysfunction
4
Q
Inx/risk
A
Similiar to ace inhibitors
- NSAIDs
- K supplements
5
Q
How do ARBs lower BP?
A
By blocking the effects of angiotensin 2.
- vasodilation
- lower aldosterone
- block renin release
6
Q
Neprilysin inhibitor
-Enteresto ( sacubitril)
A
- only co-packaged with Valsartan (ARB)
- reduces vasoconstriction and increases vasodilation= ⬇️ BP
- by blocking the conversion of ant1 to ant2
- given with Valsartan
- hypotension
- impaired renal fxn
- hyperkalemia
- angioedema
7
Q
Arbs use what kind of dosing?
A
- target dosing*
