MOA: block the effects of angiotensin 2

  • AT1 and AT2 receptor binding is blocked
  • vasodilation
  • ⬇️ aldosterone
  • ⬇️ renin release

  • reduces vasoconstriction and increases vasodilation= ⬇️ BP
  • by blocking the conversion of ant1 to ant2
  • given with Valsartan
  • hypotension
  • impaired renal fxn
  • hyperkalemia
  • angioedema
