Q
Benzapril Moexipril Trandolapril Captopril Perindopril Enlapril Quinapril Fosinopril Ramipril
A
ACE Inhibitor
2
Q
Ace inhibitors
- 10
- “pril”
- target dose drug*
A
MOA: inhibit the conversion of ant1 to ant2
* no conversion= no vasoconstriction, no aldosterone. No salt/h20 retention

Q
Ace inhibitors
- side effects
A
- cough- bradykinin related
- renal dysfunction
- lower GFR
- lower kidney fxn
- risk of ARF
- hyperkalemia
- high in PTs with chronic kidney disease, using K sparing diuretic, K supplements
4
Q
Ace inhibitors
Inx/risk
A
- avoid in pregnancy
- k supplements (hyperkalemia)
- NSAIDs (with diuretic/ dehydration)
- inhibit PG fxn of vasodilation of afferent arteriole-vasoconstriction of aa= increase glomerular pressure= increase filtrate* bad for kidneys
- cyclosporine
5
Q
How do ace inhibitors lower BP?
A
By blocking the conversion of ant 1 to ant 2.
- blocks vasoconstriction, blocks aldosterone, inhibits sodium and water retention.
- ⬇️ BP by: vasodilation, lower aldosterone, preventing salt and water reabsorption.
