A

Seen with acute inflammation eg appendicitis

  • Pain and localised tenderness more gradual onset
  • Treat underlying cause

  • Erect CXR (air under diaphragm due to perforation)

- Abdominal paracentesis

  • Resuscitate pt (NG tube, IV fluids, ABs)

- Surgical= peritoneal lavage, treat underlying cause
