Perineum Flashcards
urogenital triangle is?
pubic symphyses to ischial tubs
anal triangle?
ischial tubs to coccyx
what is located on the lateral sides of anus deep to skin?
ischiorectal fossae, filled with fat
peroneal body reinforced by 4 muscles?
2 superficial transverse peroneal muscles
2 deep transverse peroneal muscles
where is superficial peroneal pouch?
between skin and fascia
where is deep peroneal pouch?
between peroneal membrane and pelvic floor
Arteries of Ischiorectal fossa:
upper 2/3
lower 1/3?
upper 2/3: superior rectal artery
lower 1/3: inferior rectal
veins of Ischiorectal fossa drain?
upper 2/3
lower 1/3?
upper 2/3: portal
lower 1/3: systemic
nerves of Ischiorectal fossa:
upper 2/3
lower 1/3?
upper 2/3: autonomic
lower 1/3: somatic (pudendal)
what is in Alcock’s canal?
pudendal nerve
internal pudendal vessels
2 anal sphincters?
internal: autonomic
external: somatic
3 parts of external anal sphincter?
- deep: fuses to puborectalis sling(pelvic floor)
- superficial: fixed ant: peroneal body, post: coccyx
- subcutaneous: flat circular band deep to skin
importance of peroneal body?
anchor for all sphincteric, genitourinary and anal structures
what is located in deep peroneal pouches?
all sphincters
what is located in superficial peroneal pouches?
muscles for penis and clitoris
male urethral sphincter vs/ female?
male has internal and external
4 parts of male urethra?
- preprostatic
- prostatic (opening of ejaculatory duct)
- membranous part (traversing peroneal pouch/membrane)
- spongy part (in penis)
corpus cavernosum in male vs. female?
male: 2 cylinders anchored to perineal membrane
female: part of external genitalia, tip is glans clitoris
corpus spongiosium is male vs. female
male: underside of penis
female: underneath labia minora
2 muscles of penis?
ischiocavernosum
bulbospongiosum
pudendal nerve course?
in pelvis on post wall exits via GSF with piriformus winds around back of ischial spine back through LSF into perineum
pudendal nerve carries what from where?
all sensory and parasympathetic from S2-4/sacral plexus
pudendal nerve 3 branches:
- inferior rectal nerves
- perineal nerve (motor and cutaneous for triangles)
- dorsal nerve of clitoris/penis
