Pelvic Limb: Thigh Flashcards
Semitendinosus
O: ischiatic tuberosity
I: tibial tuberosity. Medial surface tibial body and tuber calcanei
A: Extend hip and hock, flex stifle
Biceps Femoris
Popliteal Lymph Node/Common Calcanean Tendon
O: Sacrotuberous ligament, ischiatic tuberosity
I: fascia lata and crural fascia to patella, patellar ligament, cranial border of tibia, tuber calcanei
A: extension of hip, stifle, hock. Caudal muscle flexes stifle.
Semimembranosus
O: Ischiatic tuberosity
I: distal medial lip of femur, medial condyle of tibia
A: extend hip. Femur attachtm: extends stifle, tibia attachtm: flexes or extends stifle, depending on position of limb
Sartorius-2
Caudal- flexes stifle Cranial- extends stifle
O: Cranial-crest of ilium
I: Cranial-patella …Caudal- cranial border tibia,–(A) Flex hip
Gracilis
Symphysial tendon
O:pelvic symphysis-by symphysial tendon
I: Cranial border of tibia, tuber calcanei
A: Adduct limb, flex stifle, extend hip/hock
Femoral Triangle
Sartorius cranially, pectineus/adductor caudally, iliopsoas and rectus remoris form lateral part
Pectineus
O: iliopubic eminence, pubic tubercle through prepubic tendon
I: distal end of medial lip of caudal rough face of femur
A: adduct limb
Adductor
O: entire pelvic symphysis, through symphysial tendon, adj. part of ischiatic arch, ventral surface of pubis and ischium
I: entire lateral lip of caudal rough face of femur
A: adduct limb and extend hip
Tensor Fascia Latae
O: tuber coxae, & adj. part of ilium, & aponeurosis of middle gluteal
I: lateral femoral fascia
A: tense lateral femoral fascia, flex hip and extend stifle
Superficial Gluteal
O: lateral border of sacrum, first caudal vertebra (lumbar?), through sacrotuberous ligament, cranial dorsal iliac spine by deep gluteal fascia
I: 3rd tronchanter
A: extend hip, abduct limb
Middle Gluteal
O: crest and gluteal surface of the ilium
I: Greater tronchanter
A: extend and abduct hip, rotate pelvic limb medially at hip
Deep Gluteal
O: body of ilium and ischiatic spine
I: cranial aspect of greater tronchanter
A: extend and abduct hip, rotate pelvic limb medially at hip
Articularis Coxae
spindle shape muscle lying on cranial lateral aspect of hip joint capsule, covered by deep gluteal muscle
Internal Obturator
O: pelvis symphysis, dorsal surface of ischium and pubis
I: trochanteric fossa of femur
A: rotate pelvic limb laterally at hip
Gamelli
O: lateral surface of ischium, caudal to acetabulum and ventral to lesser ischiatic notch
I: tronchanteric fossa
A: rotate pelvic limb medially at the hip
